Red Sox cribbage boards bring big bucks!

From Boston.com:

"...Several Red Sox participated in a roundtable yesterday afternoon at Fenway Park in conjunction with the "Hot Stove, Cool Music" concert last night. The panel included Dustin Pedroia, Masterson, Peter Gammons, Epstein, Terry Francona, Rays outfielder Fernando Perez, and Yankees starter CC Sabathia, who joined via phone from California.
The event raised money for The Foundation To Be Named Later, which Epstein runs with his twin brother, Paul, and included a live auction run by comedian Mike O'Malley. The most interesting auction items: three cribbage boards signed by Pedroia and Francona, which went for $2,000 apiece. Francona and Pedroia famously play each other in cribbage before each game...."

Thumbs up to Cribbage board maker...

From The Valdosta Daily Times:

"...THUMBS UP: To Don Covel of Adel. Earlier this year, the 85-year-old made 204 wooden cribbage boards, each with their necessary pegs and a fresh deck of cards. He then sent the games to Veterans Administration hospitals, nursing homes and other places where veterans may be with little or nothing to do. Covel was inspired to tackle the project by memories of his own stay in a naval hospital during World War II..."

A Splinter off the old block...

From Splinter's Woodworks:

"This is the latest completed cribbage board. It was a large board approximately 10 x 20 inches to be able to put the full track on the board. Created out of Hard Maple, as you can see the grain really showed through the clear poly finish nicely.

It additionally had lettering lasered on the bottom right, however I do not have a photo of that."

Mutant cribbage board...

From cgyrask:

"The game was going fine until I had a high-scoring hand and wanted to move my peg in bunches of five instead of counting each individual point. It was then that I had noticed that while the holes were divided into groups of five, there were only four holes per group.

So, instead of the industry standard 120 points per game, our board can only play up to 96 points...."

52 new boards...

From 19 Point Hand:

"I decided to go ahead and just release all 52 boards at once, instead of adding them ad-hoc. Doing so many boards at once made it easier when it came time to photograph the boards (although some of the pictures came out fuzzy and I will re-shoot them), if need be. 50 of the 52 boards are part of 6 new series and I FINALLY finished the Saturn Moon Series with the addition of the last remaining board and added the last board to the "7 Time Tour de France" Series. As always, I try and keep my prices reasonable and you get a significant break on shipping costs if you buy more than one board. You may notice that the purpleheart I use in my boards is quite "purple". I tried something new this time around. As soon as I finished the boards, I put them out in the sun for a couple of hours. This did 2 things. It let the oil/wax finish soak in nicely and it oxidized or turned the colors of the wood a little darker and a little richer. I also photographed all the boards with the pegs that are included with the board. I have added (4) 4 players boards - in the Mercury 13 Series. Of those 4 boards, the "Truhill" board is probably the nicest. With this board, I used a thicker cherry boarder and I think the proportions worked out better (given the large size of the board). And despite my best efforts to the contrary there are some "Postpono" or 'Factory Seconds" boards. There are 2 Postpono boards in the "A Seven Course Meal of Extinct Candy Bars" series and there 3 Postpono boards in the "Apollo Lunar Modules" series. As always, Postpono boards are significantly discounted. "

Cribbage crawlin'...

From PubCrawlin'

"We walked inside to find a small bar to seat five and two tree trunk-cut tables with cribbage holes drilled right into them. The brewing room was also at the entrance, housing what is probably a 2 or 3 barrel system (we didn’t check it out that closely, nor did we ask.) In the dining area there are about 15 small tables - some of them pulled together to accommodate groups. Inside there is a feeling of late summer where the walls meet the ceiling. Hop bines have been painted there, as if to bring the patio feel inside all year long (the painting is simple, yet beautiful, featuring a variety of identifiable insects including ladybugs, moths and butterflies. There are big windows to the outside, and some small stained glass interior windows featuring shafts of grain. Outside, the world is completely white and a cold wet snow is falling hard - the only color comes from the cars traveling by."

Beer bottle cribbage board... cool!

From Splinter's Woodworks:

"Recently I have been working on a project for the Deschutes Brewery in Bend Oregon. They wanted a cribbage board which would promote their business and the game of cribbage. I am honored they chose Splinters Woodworks to work on this project with them. Look for this completed board soon. It can only be obtained by contacting the Deschutes Brewery, but I will have completed photos here and on my website. "

From Enumero Cribbage Boards:

"Here was big chance to drill my own crib board template - except mine would be drilled in 1/8" inch plastic instead of steel.
